Megan Towery joined Texas Sea Grant as the Communications Director in February 2025. She is passionate about connecting people and promoting the impact of Texas Sea Grant on the communities and economies of Texas.

She provides leadership to the Communications team, and creates and implements a communications program focused on enhancing the understanding and stewardship of Texas’ coastal and marine resources. Towery oversees the creation and distribution of Texas Sea Grant’s print and multimedia materials, ensuring its presence across print, broadcast, news, and social media channels. 

Before joining Texas Sea Grant, Towery gained extensive communications experience within the A&M System. She has served in several communications roles in the education, research, health and wellness, engineering, and technology industries at the A&M System Offices, Texas A&M University, and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station Turbomachinery Laboratory. Her career began as a marketing specialist and content manager at a marketing agency, where she developed marketing strategies and designed websites. Her favorite part about communications is working with people and organizational project management.
