Undergraduate Research: Texas Sea Grant Scholars Program

Immerse Yourself in Research

Texas Sea Grant Scholars Program is a partnership with LAUNCH: Undergraduate Research at Texas A&M University.

Texas A&M University undergraduate students enrolled in any discipline at the main campus in College Station or at Galveston, who apply to participate in the LAUNCH: Undergraduate Research Scholars Program, and submit a proposal to conduct research related to the marine environment, may also be eligible to apply to the Texas Sea Grant Scholars Program. We invite proposals from all disciplines including natural, physical, social, behavioral, and economic sciences and engineering.

Each academic year, Texas Sea Grant will designate Texas Sea Grant Scholars from among the LAUNCH: Undergraduate Research Scholars selected. Texas Sea Grant Scholars will be eligible to receive up to an additional $1,000 supplement to their research budget.

Texas Sea Grant Scholars engage in a two-semester (Fall/Spring) research project, conducted under the supervision of a Texas A&M faculty mentor, that culminates in a public presentation and written thesis.

How to Apply

The goal of the program is to encourage motivated undergraduates to actively participate in research, and to give them the opportunity to communicate their findings as principal authors to the university's scholarly community.

Applicants must complete the standard application for LAUNCH: Undergraduate Research Scholars Program in the Office of Undergraduate Research Studies. Eligible students are invited to apply each year between June and September.

All applications will be reviewed by LAUNCH staff for Undergraduate Research Scholar selections. Candidates will be referred to Texas Sea Grant for our invitation to those scholars to apply further to the Texas Sea Grant Scholars Program.
