MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas — Amy Nowlin joins Texas Sea Grant as Matagorda County’s Coastal and Marine Extension Agent. She is jointly appointed with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
Extension agents deliver innovative science-based solutions and education in their counties. Nowlin will implement, plan and evaluate educational programs and activities throughout Matagorda County related to the marine and coastal environment.
Nowlin earned her B.S. in Public Relations from the University of Houston – Victoria and is currently finalizing an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership through Texas A&M International University. She also holds two teaching certifications in Special Education and Life Science.
Over the past few years, Nowlin has worked closely with Texas A&M Extension programs in Calhoun and Matagorda counties as a Wetlands Educational Specialist and served on the Calhoun County Marine Advisory Committee. She also recently directed the Palacios YMCA Environmental Summer Camp, which was funded with a three-year grant from the Matagorda Bay Mitigation Trust.
Outside of work, Nowlin is a nature enthusiast by heart and a lifetime learner. She is a certified Texas Master Naturalist and remains dedicated to local volunteer and outreach opportunities.
