Gulf Commercial Fisherman Program
The Gulf Commercial Fisherman Program is a hands-on training initiative designed to introduce participants to the skills, knowledge, and professional connections needed for a successful career in commercial fishing in the Gulf of America.

Overview
This week-long program brings together industry experts, experienced fishermen, and resource managers to provide practical instruction on gear, safety, fisheries regulations, economics, and sustainable fishing practices. Participants engage in both classroom learning and field-based experiences, including time on working vessels, to gain a real-world understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the commercial fishing industry. The program is a collaborative effort between Texas Sea Grant, Florida Sea Grant, and the Gulf of America Shareholders’ Alliance, all working together to support the next generation of Gulf fishermen.
