Galveston, Texas — Anna Weis joins Texas Sea Grant as a new Communications Specialist.

Weis contributes to Texas Sea Grant’s communications efforts through content creation, media relations, and production support. She is the organization’s primary social media manager, overseeing digital content and creating graphics. She also develops flyers and brochures, writes press releases, news articles, and publications, crafts stories, films and photographs the extension team’s activities and directs content production across various projects.

Prior to joining Texas Sea Grant, Weis gained experience from various communications roles. Most recently, she was an Account Executive for a boutique public relations agency, leading public relations and digital marketing for 17 restaurant and consumer packaged goods clients. Through this work, she also pitched and won industry awards, managed influencer campaigns and oversaw intern recruitment and supervision to ensure team consistency and growth.

Weis has also worked as a Communication and Marketing Assistant at the Public Policy Research Institute at Texas A&M University. While there, Weis created graphics and blogs, managed email campaigns covering an audience of over 800 subscribers and maintained the website.

Weis holds a bachelor’s degree in communication, a minor in business and a certificate in strategic communication, graduating from Texas A&M in 2023.

Originally from Dallas, Weis had always dreamed of living on the coast and, having recently moved to Galveston, found the opportunity. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and running. With a deep-rooted passion for sustainable living, she finds that coastal communities offer lifestyles that strongly support these interests.

“Living near the coast has deepened my appreciation for its importance, which is why I’m excited to contribute to Texas Sea Grant.” Weis said, “ I look forward to combining my passion for communication with my commitment to sustainability and outreach in this role to share the impact of our team’s work and support the coastal communities that help this ecosystem thrive.”
