Southern Regional Climate Center
Overview
The Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC), based at Texas A&M University, is a partnership of Texas A&M University Department of Atmospheric Sciences and Office of the State Climatologist, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Trabus Technologies and TXSG. The SRCC serves Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas by providing accessible climate data and tools to support diverse applications such as agriculture, water management, infrastructure planning, and emergency response. As one of six NOAA Regional Climate Centers, SRCC offers publicly available resources including climate station locators, long-term trend graphs, storm and tropical activity reports, drought monitoring tools, extreme weather event trackers, and regional climate summaries. These tools help stakeholders make informed decisions related to climate variability. TXSG supports SRCC by bringing these tools to events and planning meetings and advising stakeholders on best outreach strategies.
Two widely used tools for conducting outreach include the Climate by the Bayou models and climate workshops.
