Clean Coast Texas

Coastal communities face heightened risks from water quality degradation, habitat loss, storm surges, flooding, and other natural disasters. These challenges are even more severe for smaller communities, which often lack the technical expertise and financial capacity to develop the policies, plans, and infrastructure necessary to address the economic and environmental threats posed by coastal hazards.

Overview

The Clean Coast Texas Collaborative is a key initiative under the (GLO) Texas Coastal Nonpoint Source (NPS) Pollution Control Program. Through this initiative, the Project Team will continue partnering with coastal communities to help them meet their economic, ecological, and public health objectives. Support includes the development and implementation of integrated strategies and best practices for stormwater and floodplain management, local and regional policy creation and adoption, maintenance and funding of on-site sewage systems, and environmental outreach and education.

The ultimate goal of this project is to help coastal communities reduce ecological and economic losses resulting from environmental hazards.
