Master Naturalists Partnership
Texas Sea Grant and the Texas Master Naturalist Program have forged a dynamic partnership aimed at enhancing environmental stewardship and education across the state. Through this collaboration, Texas Sea Grant provides training, resources, and support to Master Naturalist chapters, empowering volunteers to engage in conservation projects, community outreach, and habitat restoration efforts.

Overview
The Texas Master Naturalist Program is a volunteer-based conservation education and stewardship program supported by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, with many Texas Sea Grant agents either leading or participating in local chapters. It trains individuals in the science and practices of natural resource conservation, enabling them to serve as volunteer educators, citizen scientists, and land stewards in their local communities.
Texas Sea Grant (TXSG) supports and collaborates with the Texas Master Naturalist (TMN) Program to advance STEM literacy and environmental stewardship along the Texas coast. Through this partnership, TXSG helps train new Master Naturalists and provides continuing education opportunities across coastal regions. Working with local schools, city programs, universities, and agencies such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Texas Parks and Wildlife, TXSG contributes to projects focused on wildlife management, native plant restoration, and environmental education. In the upper coast, TXSG partners with the Galveston Bay Area Master Naturalists, AgriLife Extension, and a broad network of collaborators to deliver expert-led sessions that include classroom instruction, fieldwork, and hands-on stewardship activities. These efforts enhance ecosystem services such as water filtration, soil stabilization, and habitat improvement while increasing community involvement in coastal conservation.
