Weather Ready Texas

The devastating impacts of extreme weather events can be reduced by taking advanced action. In an effort to inform residents about potential hazards, and encourage appropriate actions, Texas Sea Grant maintains social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook (@WeatherReadyTX). These accounts are meant to provide weather-related information and alerts to coastal Texans. Please follow us for news and information about the weather, how to be prepared and stay safe, and other interesting information about coastal Texas.

Weather Ready Texas is affiliated with Weather-Ready Nation, an initiative of NOAA’s National Weather Service designed to improve forecasts and ultimately increase weather-readiness. This program requires the assistance of organizations like Texas Sea Grant to serve as examples and engage their stakeholders to make this country as ready, responsive, and resilient as possible.

The Weather-Ready Nation goal is to start a dialog within our local communities that will ultimately reduce the risk of being adversely impacted by extreme weather and water events, and increase community resilience — the ability to recover — for future extreme events.
