Marissa Sipocz is the Wetland Program Manager for the Texas Coastal Watershed Program. She has worked as a field biologist doing wetland restoration around Galveston Bay for 17 years. Currently, she leads the Wetland Restoration Team, a crew of Master Naturalist volunteers working on various wetland restoration projects, especially the 136 acres restoration at Sheldon Lake State Park. She also restored wetlands along Brays Bayou, Sims Bayou, Buffalo Bayou, Sheldon Lake, San Jacinto River and various bay systems within Galveston Bay. Sipocz and her partners were named Finalists for the Texas Environmental Excellence Awards in the Civic/Community Category for their Sheldon Lake Prairie Wetland Restoration Project.
Before joining TCWP, Sipocz restored native prairie in Wisconsin as part of the Field Ecology group at the International Crane Foundation. She also worked as the Conservation Coordinator at the Galveston Bay Foundation, restoring salt marsh habitat in Galveston Bay. She graduated from Brown University with a B.S. in Aquatic Biology and a B.A. in English Literature.
