Kate de Gennaro is a Planning Specialist with the Community Resilience Collaborative, which is a partnership between Texas Sea Grant and Texas Target Communities. Her focus areas are land use planning, hazard mitigation, and community resilience. She has contributed to the Aransas County Floodplain Management Plan and the Aransas County Long Term Recovery Plan. In addition to the Coastal Bend region, Kate provides technical assistance for planning activities in the Rio Grande Valley.
Kate joined Texas Sea Grant as a graduate assistant in May 2016. She received a Masters Degree in Urban Planning, along with a Certificate in Environmental Hazard Management, from Texas A&M University in 2017. Prior to graduate school, Kate volunteered regularly with the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. Fittingly, her other interests are emergency response, disaster relief, building codes, and green infrastructure.
