Charriss York joined the Texas Coastal Watershed Program team in Spring 2006 and took over the Stormwater Program in 2008. York focuses on increasing awareness about stormwater, non-point source pollution and low impact development. She has been involved with projects to implement on-the-ground examples of stormwater best management practices and stormwater wetlands in Galveston and Harris counties. York has also led the Wetland Restoration Team for TCWP, taught at the high school and college level, and worked on conservation projects for Buffalo Bayou Partnership. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Truman State University and a M.S. in Botany from Oklahoma State University.
She was selected as one of Galveston County Health District's Oustanding Public Health Partners for her coordination efforts in the Dickinson Bayou Watershed Program. Another of her collaborations, the Ghirardi Family WaterSmart Park in League City, was honored by the Houston-Galveston Area Council with a 2014 Parks and Natural Area Award.
