Texas Sea Grant’s Biennial Research Competition

Texas Sea Grant’s competitive research program allows marine and coastal scientists from universities across the state to address issues of critical importance to the State of Texas, the Gulf of Mexico and the nation.

Every two years, Texas Sea Grant awards almost $1 million in research grants through a rigorous, peer-reviewed selection process. Researchers affiliated with any Texas institution of higher education are welcome to apply. Projects are chosen for their alignment with Texas Sea Grant’s strategic goals, and all are expected to include public engagement to ensure that the results of innovative science are put to practical use. The research priorities in each biennial grant competition are determined through Texas Sea Grant’s strategic planning process so they may best address the state and region’s current and future needs.

The Request for Proposals is typically issued in the fall of even-numbered years. Details about the 2018-2020 research competition will be available soon.
